This building project will be a launching pad for our church to reach every man woman and child within a 10 mile radius of Cane Bay, but we also want to partner with missionaries in the hardest to reach places in the world.
The Nairobi Initiative is a special partnership between C@CB and the Dinkins family. Stephen, Sarah and their four children, Rainey, Asa, Nehimiah, and Benny are International Mission Board missionaries in Nairobi, specializing in reaching over 300,000 Kenyan born Muslims with the Gospel.
Our partnership would include tangible resources to train Kenyan pastors to plant churches amongst Muslims, provide education for the impoverished, and create sanctuary for those who have converted to Christ living in severe persecution.
Nairobi is home to over 3.5 million people
Over 300,000 are Muslims with very few people engaging them with the gospel of Jesus.
Our task is to share the Good News with our own lips, but also mobilize, encourage, and train Kenyan believers to share Jesus with their Muslim neighbors
When asked why they don’t share with Muslims, 99% reply that they are scared of them and they don’t know what to say
Our goal, in addition to engaging Muslims in our own personal relationships in order to share Christ, is to equip national Pastors and laypeople to speak confidently about Christ without fear, knowing that he that is within us is greater than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
In Nairobi, surrounded by churches and a “christian culture”, hundreds of thousands of Muslims are born into Muslim families, attend Muslim schools, marry Muslim spouses, work in Muslim businesses, and die with Muslim funerals -all while NEVER having anyone tell them the truth about Jesus, who he really is, and what he did for them. Our goal, it to tell as many as possible, with the help of US church partners, and Kenyan believers, the truth about Jesus' love for them and his sacrifice for their sin.
We want to be like the farmer who prayed for rain and prepared his field for answered prayer. We are just now seeing the burdens and persecution that new MBB's(muslim background believers) must endure when they genuinely place their faith in Jesus as their true Messiah. So, we pray for and expect many opportunities to bless new believers not with handouts, but with help to get on their feet and to empower them to survive and provide for themselves and their families
The gifts from Cane Bay will allow several things to happen. a) More training of local pastors and believers to learn how to share Jesus with Muslims and plant churches in their communities, b) more help for a Kenyan Missionaries the Lord is raising up to finish the task of reaching the unreached in Nairobi and around Kenya. This help will be in the form of business or vocational training, and possibly resources for small church plants. c) more relief for those MBB’s facing severe persecution. As part of the body of Christ Cane Bay will be loving their new brother and sisters get on their feet, find work, and assimilate into a local body who can continue to disciple them.
